Tsukimi “Moon-Viewing” Burger from KFC

I’m a big fan of the seasonal products Japan has to offer and you know that autumn is nearing once you start to see the yearly Tsukimi Burger (月見バーガー) advertised.

The burger is named after the popular Japanese tradition of tsukimi (月見) which is a mid-autumn moon-viewing festival honoring the bright autumn moon. Each burger has an egg that is supposed to resemble the moon.

KFC is offering four types of burgers this year and they are the Torori Tsukimi Chicken Filet Sandwich and Torori Tsukimi Wafu Chicken Katsu Sandwich. This year both versions of the burger are offered with or without the cheese.

The Torori Tsukimi Chicken Filet Sandwich uses whole-grain buns and contains lettuce, a crispy chicken filet using the secret 11 herbs and spices, olive oil-infused mayo, and a fried egg to resemble the moon.

The Torori Tsukimi Wafu Chicken Katsu Sandwich uses whole-grain buns and includes a deep-fried chicken katsu treated with a scrumptious soy teriyaki glaze, shredded cabbage, mayo, and a fried egg.

KFC is also offering garlic and soy sauce flavored boneless chicken filet for a limited time. Upon opening the package you are greeted with a strong scent of garlic which makes it more irresistible.

The crispy chicken filet is seasoned with garlic and soy sauce sprinkled with red chili pepper and sesame seeds.
