I had the pleasure of attending BitSummit during both the business and public days of the event. Held annually at Miyako Messe in Kyoto, BitSummit is Japan’s largest independent game festival. Founded in 2013, the event was created to provide Japanese indie developers with a platform to showcase their games to both domestic and international audiences. Over the years, it has grown into one of the world’s premier indie gaming events.
The exhibition floor is packed with upcoming titles from both AAA studios and independent developers, offering attendees hands-on demos, stage presentations, and panel discussions throughout the event.
BitSummit 2026 set a new attendance record, welcoming 68,208 visitors, a 17% increase over the previous year.
