Every year Japanese restaurants welcome the yearly Tsukimi Burger (月見バーガー) for a limited time and I thoroughly enjoy trying them. Tsukimi (月見) is a Japanese tradition that is a mid-autumn moon-viewing festival honoring the bright autumn moon.
KFC offers the same four burgers as last year, the Torori Tsukimi Chicken Filet Sandwich and Torori Tsukimi Wafu Chicken Katsu Sandwich. This year, both burger versions are offered with or without cheese.
The Torori Tsukimi Chicken Filet Sandwich uses whole-grain buns. It contains lettuce, a crispy chicken filet using the secret 11 herbs and spices, olive oil-infused mayo, and a fried egg to resemble the moon.
The Torori Tsukimi Wafu Chicken Katsu Sandwich uses whole-grain buns. It includes a deep-fried chicken katsu treated with a delicious soy teriyaki glaze, shredded cabbage, mayo, and a fried egg.
